MentoRate Terms of Service

Welcome to MentoRate! These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and MentoRate ("we," "us," "our," or "the Platform"). By accessing or using our website, mobile applications, or any related services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, posting a review, or browsing our Platform as a guest, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, as well as our Privacy Policy. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Services. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately cease using our Services.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use MentoRate. By using the Services, you represent and warrant that:

• You meet the minimum age requirement;
• You have the legal capacity to enter into binding contracts;
• You will provide accurate and truthful information when creating an account; and
• Your use of the Platform does not violate any applicable laws or regulations.

3. AI Processing of Reviews

3.1 Automatic AI Processing for Guest Reviews

All reviews submitted by guest users are automatically processed through AI to ensure platform integrity. This includes:

• Content filtering & spam detection
• Hate speech & harassment detection
• Defamation screening
• Abuse prevention

3.2 Discretionary AI Processing for Registered Users

For registered users, we reserve the right to process reviews through AI systems at our sole discretion. This may occur during security audits or when content is flagged for review.

3.3 AI Processing Outcomes

AI processing may result in automatic rejection, quarantine, redaction, or account suspension for severe violations.

Note: AI systems are not perfect. Automated filters may incorrectly flag content. We assume no liability for errors in AI processing. Moderation decisions are final.

4. User-Generated Content & Your Responsibility

4.1 Your Responsibility for Accuracy

You are solely responsible for the accuracy of your reviews. By posting, you affirm that your content is truthful, based on personal experience, and not impersonating others. MentoRate does not verify individual claims. False or defamatory statements may expose you to legal liability from third parties.

4.2 License Grant to MentoRate

By posting User Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to display, reproduce, modify, and store your content for promotional and operational purposes. You retain ownership but waive moral rights.

5. Our Absolute Moderation Rights

We reserve the absolute and sole discretion to edit, delete, hide, or refuse to publish any review for any reason or no reason at all. Common reasons for removal include hate speech, defamation, spam, private information disclosure, and plagiarism.

6. Banning Policy & IP Tracking

6.1 Enforcement Actions

Violations may lead to warnings, suspension, content removal, or IP address banning.

6.2 IP-Based Tracking

We utilize IP tracking to prevent abuse and identify repeat offenders.

6.3 Ban Evasion Prohibition

Bypassing an IP ban using VPNs or proxy servers is a material violation of these Terms and may result in legal action.

7. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

7.1 Platform Nature

MentoRate is a user-generated platform. We do not endorse or verify the institutions or professors reviewed.

7.2 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MentoRate shall not be liable for any indirect damages, including academic repercussions, professional consequences, reputational harm, or loss of profits or data.

8. Indemnification

You agree to hold MentoRate harmless from any claims arising from your User Content or violation of these Terms.

9. Termination

We may terminate your access immediately for any breach. Certain provisions, including liability limits, survive termination.

10. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania. Disputes shall be resolved exclusively in local courts.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms. Changes are effective immediately. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

12. Severability

If any provision is found invalid, the remaining provisions stay in full effect.
